An exterior dock door fails and the bay stops. An interior door fails and the process stops, which is a much larger number. Interior doors separate a clean area from a dirty one, a conditioned area from an unconditioned one, or a robot cell from a walkway, so the door is part of the process specification rather than part of the building envelope. That is why high-speed doors are common on these openings: the door is on the critical path for every cycle, and its speed is a production figure.
